No bank account? How a Blomo card still works

A Blomo virtual card runs on a crypto balance: no bank account, no IBAN, no ID for the virtual card. What it handles, what it cannot, and how people fund it.

There is no bank account under a Blomo virtual card. The card draws on a Blomo balance that is topped up in crypto, so opening one involves no bank, no IBAN and, for a virtual card, no identity document — Blomo’s terms rule documents out at sign-up, at top-up, at issue and at payment (terms, section 4), though Blomo can still ask about the origin of a particular deposit (section 6). The catch is upstream. Whoever wants to use the card has to get stablecoins or other crypto onto the balance, and people who start from euros or pounds in a bank usually buy that crypto on an exchange that checks identity.

What Blomo asks for instead

  1. A Blomo account, registered with an email address or with Telegram, by an adult (18 or over).
  2. Telegram linked to that account before any money moves — top-up, card order or subscription — since money notifications are delivered to Telegram (section 3).
  3. A first deposit of 50 USDT or more. Blomo’s 1% is added on top of whatever you want credited: aiming for 100 USDT, you send 101 (fees).
  4. Enough on the balance for the card you pick: 100 USDT for Estonia, 200 for Indonesia, 250 for the United Kingdom, 300 for Poland, 500 for Spain, 1,000 for the Netherlands. That amount stays yours; the catch is that ordering freezes the whole balance until activation, or until a decline releases it (section 7). Count the 1% in when you aim at a threshold — 505 USDT sent puts exactly 500 on the balance for the Spain card.

Card one is free of charge. Card two and every later one cost 10 USDT each.

The everyday jobs, checked against the card

Job Blomo virtual card
Subscriptions, online shops, bookings All six cards
Tapping a phone at a till Five cards, via Apple Pay or Google Pay entered by hand; Estonia is online-only
Withdrawing cash Five cards: Netherlands, Spain and Poland charge 1%, United Kingdom and Indonesia 2%; Estonia offers no ATM use
Receiving wages by bank transfer Not possible — Blomo issues no account number, so incoming money is crypto
Paying rent or utilities by direct debit Not possible — no account exists to be debited
Getting a plastic card Possible for the Netherlands, Spain and United Kingdom cards, after an identity check run by the card issuer (section 4)

The card names refer to the issuing country, not to where you must live. Anyone outside the regions Blomo excludes can order any of the six.

How people actually fund it

The honest answer to “do I still need a bank?” depends on how money arrives in your life.

  • Income already in stablecoins — contract work, online sales, payouts from platforms that pay in USDT. Keep it in a self-custody wallet and send top-ups from there; no bank account of yours is involved at any point.
  • Coins already held somewhere. Send the top-up from that wallet. Each Blomo top-up request names its network, its address and the exact amount.
  • Nothing but money in a bank. Then crypto has to be bought before the card is useful, and a purchase for euros, pounds or zloty typically runs through a regulated exchange that asks for ID and is paid from a bank account or bank card.

Put plainly: Blomo takes the bank out of spending. It cannot take it out of buying crypto for people whose money starts in a bank.

Blomo is not offered in the United States, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, North Korea, African countries or sanctioned jurisdictions (availability).

Short answers

Is a bank account needed for a Blomo card? No. A Blomo virtual card is funded from a crypto balance; there is no bank account or IBAN involved.

Does a Blomo virtual card require ID? No — none at sign-up, top-up, issue or payment. Blomo’s plastic cards require an identity check.

Do I get an IBAN from Blomo? No. Blomo is not a bank; deposits arrive as crypto.

How much do I need to start with Blomo? At least 50 USDT for a top-up, and between 100 and 1,000 USDT on the balance to order a card, depending on the card.

Can a Blomo card withdraw cash? Five of the six can: Netherlands, Spain and Poland at 1%, United Kingdom and Indonesia at 2%.
